The new CD has been recorded!
The first days of spring found us in Skåne creating much magic and a new CD.
We still have mixing and a plethora of other surprises to sort out before we can plan the release of these 12 lovely songs and the story that envelopes them.
Meanwhile, here's a glimpse into some parts of the operation...
Some Skåne magic

The door to magic land

Part of the laboratory

The Mad Scientist (aka The man that gravity can't slow down)

The accomplices

Erik after a night in the haunted farmhouse. Did I mention the ghost incident? That's another story. Erik tells it best. Indeed, he is a hero.

My van, Gröna Böna, had some difficulties so we borrowed an old volvo that happened to be filled with toy animals. This led to the following tribute to one of the songs on the upcoming CD.

Hope to see you soon

Hello Friends,
February saw Andreas and I on a couple of short tours in the Netherlands and Spain as well as a quick dip into Germany to meet the phenomenal folks at Haldern Pop Records.
Outside of one of our favorite venues- The Paradiso in Amsterdam

In Spain we enjoyed sharing the bill with Boat Beam. You can check them out at: www.myspace.com/boatbeam
In Spain I also seem to have gained a new nickname that was shouted out by an anonymous audience member. Torera ! Rough translation is ummm.....bullfighter lady. A trusted amigo assures that that's a complement.
Thanks to those of you that subscribe to my newsletter and have subsequently sent in your scary santa photos. I haven't picked a winner yet but hope to get a chance to review them all soon!

The Canadian Folk Music Awards have announced the nominees for 2009 . The dear people at Six Shooter Records have just informed me that yours truly has been nominated in the Pushing The Boundaries category. Woo hoo! An honor to be in such fine company. For a list of all the categories and nominees go to:
www.canadianfolkmusicawards.ca
Also, just finished a very interesting week of work with Mile Zero Dance at the Banff Centre for the Arts. The centre is nestled in the heart of the magnificent Canadian Rockies and attracts artists from all over the world. Check it out below or at: http://www.banffcentre.ca

As I prepare to return to Canada for another collaboration with Mile Zero Dance, I'm delighted to have received an email that ties in with my last update. Don Jon is a Danish stencil artist that was at my show during SpotFest. He just sent me one of his works which was inspired by that show. You can see more of his work at : www.donjohn.dk

While in pre production with the dance show I will also be having 2 gigs in Alberta. Both of these will be with one of my favorite AB artists- Kris Demeanor and his Crack Band.

Wow, wow, wow... The SPOT festival in Aarhus this weekend was PACKED with amazing music ! Check it out at : http://www.spotfestival.dk/
The drive home was also packed with sweet Scandinavian inspiration.
Here's a view of the sun setting through the window of Brahehus castle overlooking lake Vättern, as we rumbled down the E4 in our van.

The Rose D'Or Festival for entertainment television programming was such a wonderful experience. A pleasure to play there and an honor to meet so many interesting and creative people. See an overview of the event at :
http://www.rosedor.com
One particularly brilliant afternoon consisted of a visit to the Ueli-Hof farm, where we were treated to lovely hospitality and a scumptious lunch while being serenaded with traditional Swiss music and yodelling. (Featuring Ursula Stammer, Sonja and Jules Renggli, Franz Roosli, and a couple of other fine folks whose names I didn't catch.)

Back at the festival- another highlight for me was seeing the twisted short film
Car Men featuring Netherlands Dance Theatre III . This ultra odd take on Carmen, choreographed by Jiří Kyliánand and directed by Boris Pavel Conen was slapstick surrealism at its best. Another dance film highlight was Strictly Bolshoi, a documentary by the charming Ballet Boyz featuring choreographer Christopher Wheeldon as he dives into creating a work on the legendary Bolshoi Ballet. Full of turmoil and humor, it was a fantastic glimpse at the creative process.
The festival also screened "Ask Me No Questions" -my latest video directed by the fabulous Magnus Renfors.
Speaking of that video- The Montreal Underground Film Festival - MUFF- will be screening our "Ask Me No Questions" video on May 16th.

Spring has sprung in all of it's blossom and bird song filled bliss. Unfortunately, it marks the end of Semlor season (or if you're from Skane- 'fastlagsbullar' season) . So long sweet and tasty treat ... see you next year...or now in the picture above
On the subject of sweetness...My time in Canada was full of many 'sweet as semla' moments. Here's one of them...Pappa McNeill
